Is Sweetest Day for men?

Sweetest Day is a holiday for both men and women. It is a day set aside to give cards, flowers, candy or small gifts to loved ones. Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October.

It began in 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio when a candymaker and his committee went into the city and gave out candy to the poor, orphans and elderly. The holiday grew in popularity during the Great Depression. Today, a majority of the cards produced for Sweetest Day are romantic in nature. It is also a holiday that is regional, as residents in some parts of the country are more likely to celebrate.
