Who is Will Swenson from the U.S. Army?

Will Swenson is a retired U.S. Army captain and Medal of Honor recipient. He joined the Army in 2002 and served in the infantry. During his military career, Swenson attended Mountain Leader Advanced Marksmanship Course, Army Airborne School and Army Ranger School.

Swenson served one tour in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. He earned other medals including a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and an Army Commendation Medal.

Swenson was nominated for the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009. His original nomination was lost and he did not receive the award until October 16, 2013.
