What is a Swiss cheese plant?

A Swiss-cheese plant is a tropical ornamental vine with heart-shaped leaves that become covered with slits as the plant grows older. Covered with these holes, the leaves resemble Swiss cheese, giving the plant its name.
The Swiss-cheese plant thrives in warm, humid conditions with full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It can't tolerate frost, so it needs to be grown indoors. The Swiss-cheese plant needs a large space, as it grows to over 10 feet tall. The Swiss-cheese plant flowers in its native location of South America, but rarely flowers when grown indoors. When the white flowers fade and die, the plant produces a sweet-corn-cone-shaped fruit. The plant's scientific name is Monstera deliciosa.
