Symptoms of a pelvic fracture include pain in the groin, hip and lower back; difficulty urinating or walking; and bleeding from the urethra or vagina. Pelvic fractures occur by falling from great heights or experiencing high-speed accidents. Individuals with osteoporosis can fracture their pelvises with minor falls, explains Cedars-Sinai.
Diagnosis of a pelvic fracture comes after examining the motions of the hip, presence of bone tenderness or loss of nerve function, or by performing a CT or X-ray scan of the pelvis. Treatment for a pelvic fracture includes painkillers, bed rest or surgery, depending on the severity of the fracture, according to Cedars-Sinai.
