Damage to the pudendal nerve can result in symptoms such as pelvic pain, uncomfortable sensations in the vagina or rectum, and urinary incontinence, according to the Global Library of Women's Medicine. These symptoms are often aggravated by sitting down and may occur in women or men.
Pain from pudendal nerve damage due to physical injury or nerve compression is felt primarily in the genitalia, reports GLOWM. However, some people with pudendal nerve damage feel the pain in the rectum and perineum, while a small percentage feel pain outside the area normally innervated by the pudendal nerve. Numbness or loss of feeling is also possible in cases of pudendal nerve damage.
