Are Sysco food products found in the local grocery store?

Although the majority of Sysco food products are not available in local grocery stores, in 2012 Sysco purchased European Imports, Inc. and some of that company's products may be available in grocery stores. Sysco primarily serves the food service industry, including restaurants, hospitals and schools.

European Imports sells a range of specialty foods, including cheeses, exotic meats and game, and condiments. Founded in the 1980s, the business began by importing and packaging cheeses for the food service industry. Over time, the company's product line expanded to include both domestic and imported specialty goods and its customer base expanded into the retail market, including grocery stores.
