What is T-cell lymphoma?

T-cell lymphomas are a group of rare cancers that account for less than 15 percent of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. There are several varieties of T-cell lymphoma, according to the American Cancer Society. The prognoses for these types of cancer vary greatly according to form.

Mayo Clinic describes cutaneous T-cell lymphoma as a type of cancer that begins in the white blood cells and causes a rash or redness on the skin. Treatment for the skin condition includes use of creams, light therapy or radiation therapy. While it is rare in the United States, adult T-cell lymphoma results from a virus. It is more common in areas where the HTLV-1 virus is more widespread, according to the American Cancer Society.
