What are some Taino tribal symbols?

Taino tribal symbols include shaman, frog, sun and water, or snail. The symbols were carved into rock in prehistoric times and are estimated to have been made around 5,000 BC to 1,700 AD. They are referred to as ancient petroglyphs. Some theories suggest local tribes used them as warning signs.

Other theories suggest the symbols were created by shamans during altered states of consciousness. Symbols with "faces" are said to represent gods, animals or people in the tribe. Bats and owls were common, as were spirits with human faces. The Taino Indians are indigenous to the Caribbean in the area of the Greater Antilles.
