Two of the most popular tank battle games as of 2015 are "World of Tanks" and "War Thunder." Both are free-to-play team-based MMOs available on the PC, and in the case of "War Thunder," available on Mac Linux and the PlayStation 4.

In "World of Tanks," players take control of one of many different real-life tanks, spanning eras from World War I to shortly after the end of World War II. Players must work together with other players to capture the enemy base or destroy all enemy vehicles. "War Thunder" follows a similar style, but it offers realistic game modes. It also offers tanks from around the same time period and allows players to fly airplanes from those periods as well.
