Are Target and Walmart associated?
By Forinfos - 22/02/2025 - 0 comments
Target and Walmart are not associated companies but longtime competitors in the discount retail market; both chains opened their first store in 1962. Target is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Walmart is based in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Walmart has a reputation for offering lower-priced goods and marketing to lower-income shoppers than Target; the types of merchandise stocked by the two chains reflect this perception. Another indication of how the demographic groups sought by Walmart and Target differ is that Target has not sold cigarettes since 1996, while as of 2015 Walmart had no plans to stop selling them.
As of 2014, Walmart ranked first among U.S. retailers in revenue; Target came in fourth.
