What are some techniques for applying eyeliner?

For round or close-set eyes, apply liner only to the outer corners; otherwise, line the entire upper lid. To soften the pencil tip, roll it between your fingers. With one hand, gently pull up on the eyelid to hold it taut.

Starting at the inner corner, draw the pencil along in light, connected dashes along the eyelid rim along the lash tops. Keep the marks close to the roots, covering skin between lashes and the eyeliner color. Drawing the line a bit past the outer corners makes the eyes look bigger.

Lightly brush some matching powdered eye shadow along the eyeliner, and soften it with a sponge or cotton swab. Dab at the liner in light, slightly upward strokes that flare out at the corners.
