What is a byte equal to?
By Forinfos - 24/10/2025 - 0 comments
A byte is the equivalent of eight bits or a sequence of eight ones and zeros, which can store an unassigned 8-bit number, from zero to 255. Most computers use the byte to represent a single character like a typographic symbol, number or letter.
Despite the fact that bytes were initially built to measure character data, they have become the basic unit for measuring all data storage. Larger storage capacities such as RAMs and Hard drives are represented as gigabytes (1,073,741,824 bytes), megabytes (1,048,576 bytes) and kilobytes (1,024 bytes). Due to their small size, bytes are mostly used to measure data within a file, like specific characters or pixels.
