Who made the Internet?

Leonard Kleinrock is often credited with the initial idea of networking computers to create the Internet. However, the actual development of the Internet did not get underway until nearly 10 years after Kleinrock published his first paper.
The first serious discussion of issues related to the creation of the Internet took place in 1968. It was chaired by Elmer Shapiro and attended by four members of the Stanford Research Institute. The group came up with a model of the Interface Message Processor, an early version of the Internet. The contract to build and put this network into practice was eventually awarded to Bolt Beranek and Newman, Inc.
