Ansel Adams used several types of cameras throughout his photography career, including an Eastman Kodak Brownie #1, a Pocket Kodak and a Ziess Milliflex. He used a heavy glass plate camera in the 1920s and 35-millimeter cameras in the 1930s.
Ansel Adams took almost 100 pounds of gear with him during his first long trip into the wilderness in 1920 when he was only 18 years old. He took with him his burro, food and 30-pound pack full of photography equipment. In order to capture the stunning beauty of the back country, Adams would take several cameras, plenty of film, tripods and portable darkrooms during his journey.
