Jupiter's Great Red Spot is approximately minus 256 degrees Fahrenheit. The center of the spot is roughly 3 to 4 degrees warmer than the surrounding environment.
Discovered in the 17th century, the Great Red Spot is a massive, persistent hurricane in Jupiter's atmosphere. The storm is large enough to accommodate over two Earth-sized objects within it and takes six Earth days to complete a rotation. The storm rotates counter-clockwise, but the small temperature difference between the body of the storm and the core creates a slight clockwise motion in the middle of the storm. The temperature variation also affects weather and wind speed in other regions of Jupiter.
