What is a tessellation maker?

A tessellation maker is an application that allows the user to form a tessellation, which is a repeating pattern of polygons covering a plane, leaving no gaps and never overlapping. Tessellation makers can be found online.

There are several types of tessellations. Regular tessellations are patterns formed by repeating regular polygons. Semi-regular tessellations are formed from two or more regular polygons with the same pattern at each vertex. Some less common tessellations include demiregular and those with curved shapes. When naming a tessellation, go around a vertex and name the number of sizes each polygon has, starting with the polygon with the least number of sizes.
