Thomasville is a large furniture company that was started in Thomasville, North Carolina in 1904. For a time, most of its products were made at its headquarters, but as of March, 2014, its largest U.S. factory was shut down by its latest owner, Heritage Home Group. The low cost of manufacturing in countries like China and Indonesia has caused many American companies to use plants there as a way to cut costs.
