The three largest cities in Delaware as of the 2010 census were Wilmington, Dover and Newark. According to the census, Wilmington had 70,851 residents that year. Dover had a population estimated to be around 34,120, while Newark's population was 31,454 residents.
Although it is the second largest city in the state, Dover is the capitol of Delaware. Newark is the smallest of the three largest cities in terms of land size, at only 9.3 square miles. Wilmington is the busiest city, as it has access to the Delaware River, and because it sits geographically closest to major cities such as Philadelphia and New York City.
