What is three squared?

Three squared is nine. The square of a number is obtained by multiplying the number with itself. Thus, the square of three is written as 3^2 or 3 x 3 = 9.

Similarly, the square of 4 is written as 4^2 = 4 x 4, which gives 16. The square of a negative number is a positive number. Hence, (-3) x (-3) is also 9. Similarly, (-4) x (-4) is also 16.

The square of fractions can also be obtained in the same manner. The square of ¾ is written as (¾)^2 = ¾ x ¾ = 9/16. The square of (-¾) is written as (-¾)^2 = (-¾.) x (-¾) = 9/16.
