Copies of records with information relating to divorce, including the original petition, are usually provided to parties involved in the case. The lawyer who filed the case, the Public Access to Court Electronic Documents system and the court clerk's office where the divorce was filed are additional places to check.
Pacer allows individuals to search for documents filed in court cases across the United States. The original copies of these documents filed with each court are stored in each court clerk's office. Records that are not available through Pacer or court clerks' offices may sometimes be located through the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.
