What are the three weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation?
By Forinfos - 26/05/2026 - 0 comments
The Articles of Confederation had several weaknesses. Three notable weaknesses include the national government's lack of power to tax, the absence of national army or navy and the ability of each state to issue their own paper money.
In addition, the national government could not enforce laws on taxation because there was no judiciary system, and Congress was useless because there was no president. Congress was powerless to raise money to aid in the fight against border encroachment by the Spanish and the British, and any changes to the Articles required a unanimous vote that took too much time. Because of this, the Congress was unable to make a strong government.
