What is the ticking noise coming from my engine?

The ticking noise coming from an engine most likely has something to do with the valvetrain. An imbalance between the camshaft and rocker arm can lead to a ticking noise in the engine.
While cold oil can pump up hydraulic valve lifters, the oil can start to thin out and fail to work the lifters as efficiently whenever the engine heats up. A ticking engine as well as other mechanical issues can result from using the wrong oil filter, since this causes the flow rate of the oil to be altered, which in turn can lead to low engine oil pressure.
