Is tilapia healthy?
By Forinfos - 06/01/2026 - 0 comments
Tilapia is healthy due to its low caloric content, low fat content and high protein levels. However, according to experts at Berkley Wellness, tilapia is lower in omega-3 essential fats as compared to other fish, such as salmon.
Compared to wild tilapia, farmed tilapia is even lower in omega-3 fats since the diet consists mainly of corn- and soybean-based feeds, as opposed to the omega-3-rich algae and other aquatic vegetation that comprise the food of wild tilapia. However, the little amount of fat and calories, and high protein levels makes both farmed and wild tilapia an ideal choice for weight loss diets.
