What is a tire hoist?
By Forinfos - 16/04/2026 - 0 comments
A tire hoist, also known as a winch, carrier or mount is a device for securing a spare tire. The spare tire is kept underneath the chassis or truck mat of the vehicle. The spare tire hoist enables the driver to hoist the tire by pulling a cable.
The size of a spare tire hoist varies with the type and size of the vehicle. It has a cable that the driver uses to lower the spare tire by hand cranking the winch. The winch is located near the rear bumper. The tire hoist may seize up due to rust on the winch cable.
