What does a toilet flange repair ring do?

A toilet flange repair ring, made with stainless steel or other durable metal, replaces or repairs an existing broken or rusted closet flange ring. It connects the bottom of the toilet to the plastic toilet flange, also known as a closet flange, which is attached to the top of the outgoing drainpipe.

Full repair rings, which are mounted directly to the floor with closet bolts and screws or concrete anchors, are designed to fit over the existing ring for ease of repair. A partial repair ring, called a spanner flange, is used when one of the bolt slots on the existing flange has broken. This piece slides beneath the broken area to create a new mounting surface for the closet bolt.
