What tool is needed to remove silicone caulking from a bathtub surround?

A putty knife is generally the only tool needed to remove silicone caulk from a bathtub surround. The putty knife easily removes the existing caulk, particularly after using a liquid caulk remover.
After first squeezing on a liquid caulk remover and letting it sit for several hours, users use a putty knife to pull the caulk out from the gap between the tub and the upper surround area. Large pieces of caulk should come off easily, as the remover has loosened the caulk. To remove caulk without first applying a remover, use a caulk remover tool instead of a putty knife as it allows for more careful caulk removal.
