While toothpaste is a common home remedy for pimples, toothpaste is not a proven method for healing pimples. Furthermore, according to Glamour magazine, placing toothpaste on the skin can cause irritation and may result in unsightly rashes.
Toothpaste is often used to heal pimples, because the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda in these products dries out the skin. WebMD cautions anyone who tries this treatment to use a sensitive toothpaste without colorings or dyes. It is also important to note that while the toothpaste may dry out a pimple, it can also cause complications by over-drying or burning the skin.
