The top of a volcano is called the crater. A volcano is shaped like an inverted cone, and the tip of the cone is the crater. The crater is the opening of the vent in a volcano through which the molten magma or the lava is ejected.
When a volcano erupts, the molten metals in the form of rocks come out from the magma chamber along the vents and are ejected onto the Earth's surface through the crater. The layers of ash and lava ejected through the crater of the volcano slide along the surface of the volcanic mountain and solidify upon cooling.
