When is tornado season?

Tornado season varies depending on location, but most tornadoes appear during April, May and June. In the United States, southeastern regions tend to suffer the most tornado activity from February to April, while incidences of tornadoes in the northern Plains increase during the months of June through August.
Tornadoes are more likely in the Plains from early spring through the summer and in the South from late winter through early spring. However, tornadoes can develop at any time of year. Tornadoes occur most frequently in the United Sates due to the supportive geography, but tornado formation is possible almost anywhere in the world if proper conditions present themselves.
