When is tornado season in Alabama?
By Forinfos - 15/02/2026 - 0 comments
For most of Alabama, tornado season is between March and May. However, areas around Tuscaloosa have a second tornado season from November to early December.
Although tornadoes can occur at any time of the day, they are most likely to occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. In Alabama, tornadoes most often move from the southwest to the northwest, although other directions are possible. The average tornado lasts about 10 minutes and can vary in speed from 30 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour. Although some weather has an increased likelihood of forming a tornado, these storms can also form without any warning.
