Are toucans endangered?

Toucans are not currently an endangered species as of 2014. However, the toucan population is unknown due to the broad extent of its habitat, which spreads over more than 20,000 kilometers.

The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species lists toucans as being of least concern. The 2012 report on toucans also states that while the toucan population had declined over the previous 10 years, the population decline is less than 30 percent, and there are an estimated 10,000 specimens living in the wild. Toucans are adaptable birds, capable of living in a variety of habitats, meaning that rain forest destruction does not necessarily affect them to the same extent as other species.
