Laundry spray, ice, petroleum jelly, liquid dish soap and white vinegar are some traditional items that remove gum from fabrics. The best way to remove gum from fabric is to harden the gum by placing ice on it or putting the fabric in the freezer, then scraping off the gum.

A small amount of petroleum jelly works well to loosen gum that is old or dry. Any leftover residue can be treated with laundry spray or an equal mix of liquid dish soap and white vinegar. The fabric may then be laundered according to the instructions. Ensuring that both the gum and the stain are gone is recommended before placing the fabric in the dryer.
