From what traditions did Halloween originate?

The tradition of Halloween tradition came from the Celtic people who lived in Europe more than 2000 years ago. Each year, the celebration began on the last day of October.

On the first day of November every year, the ancient Celts would celebrate this tradition to mark the end of summer. On this day, the Celts dressed up as ghosts to prevent the spirits from harming them. They would leave food for the dead, hoping that the ghosts would leave them alone. In Ireland, Halloween was originally known as “Hallow E’en,” an event practiced by pagans to honor the dead.
