What is a transmission filter?
By Forinfos - 08/03/2026 - 0 comments
A transmission filter is a filter designed to protect the transmission of a motor vehicle. The transmission is one of the key components to a motor vehicle and requires fluid to function. The filter keeps the fluid clear from debris and contaminants that can damage the transmission.
Maintaining the transmission filter can extend the life of the transmission. Most automobile manufacturers recommend changing the transmission filter at least once every two years or per the maintenance schedule included in the owner’s manual. Some signs that a transmission filter may need to be replaced, regardless of the maintenance schedule, are leaking, a burning smell or not being able to change gears.
