A 2012 review of mole trap brands on the market by Pest Control Products concludes that the WireTek 1001 trap is the most effective at eliminating pest moles. It is a jaw-like steel mechanical trap that has two pairs of "scissors" that are pushed into the mole tunnel.

Pest Control Products praises the simplicity of setting up WireTek's product; the trap is pushed into the tunnel and set. The movement of the mole triggers the trap, killing the pest instantly. No bait, poisons or chemicals are needed to operate the trap, and the review notes that it has a reinforced assembly that lasts for years and is easily cleaned.
