Fuchs' corneal dystrophy is a hereditary disease that causes degeneration of cells in the cornea, resulting in eye pain, severely blurred vision and the sensation of a foreign body in the eye. It ultimately produces extreme swelling and blisters on the cornea; when these burst, the only way to restore vision is a cornea transplant.
