What are tripod shooting sticks?

A tripod shooting stick is a three-legged support used to provide stability for a firearm. It usually has telescopic components to its legs capable of extending and retracting to adjust the height.

Shooting sticks are usually made of aluminum or similar material that is lightweight and strong. A mounting pod with a threaded bolt is at the top of the stick to which a gunrest, called a v-yoke, is attached. The v-yoke is detachable, and the pod also accepts sighting equipment such as a spotting scope or binoculars.

Shooting sticks minimize movement and allow hunters to stay in a ready position quietly. They also provide stability for long-range shots.
