Is a tummy wrap an effective way to lose weight?

A tummy wrap results in only temporary weight loss and is not an effective way to lose weight permanently, according to WebMD. Tummy wraps cause a slight drop in weight, usually 1 or 2 pounds, that lasts only a day or two.
During a slimming body wrap, small strips of material remain wrapped tightly around the body for about 30 minutes. Sweating usually causes a pound or two of water-weight loss; however, people quickly regain this weight when they eat and drink normally. Dr. Sandra Fryhofer, past president of the American College of Physicians, warns that body wraps cannot take the place of healthy diet and exercise.
