Is turkey meat bad for dogs?
By Forinfos - 25/11/2025 - 0 comments
Turkey meat is safe for dogs to eat in small amounts. The meat is greasy, and large amounts may cause diarrhea or other gastrointestinal discomfort. Turkey bones and skin are dangerous to dogs.
Turkey skin can cause pancreatitis in dogs of any age. The high fat content can overwhelm the pancreas and cause vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and sometimes death. Cooked turkey bones can flake apart and become lodged in a dog's throat. This may cause choking or internal bleeding. Turkey meat can cause salmonella if left out too long, so owners should only give pets small amounts of freshly-cooked meat.
