What color are turkey eggs?

Turkey eggs are speckled with a white background, and have numerous brownish-red dots similar to the small spots on quail eggs. Unlike chicken eggs, which come in a variety of colors, turkey eggs only come in this speckled form. They are about one-and-a-half times as big as a chicken egg.

The unique speckled appearance of turkey eggs inspired the name of a condition called turkey egg kidneys. When blood flow is disturbed in the kidneys, the blood vessels inside may leak. The small red dots come from multiple, tiny hemorrhages, giving the affected organs an appearance not unlike the shell of a turkey egg.
