The Turks and Caicos Islands lie to the east of Cuba and north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Because the islands are northeast of these countries, the Turks and Caicos Islands fall within the boundaries of the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean Sea.

The Turks and Caicos Islands cover approximately 366 square miles across 40 separate islands. Only eight of the islands are inhabited; six in the Caicos Island group and two in the Turks. The capital is located on Grand Turk Island in the Turks, while the most populated island is Providenciales in the Caicos. The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory; however, the Islands' official currency is the U.S. dollar.
