Where is the wishbone in a turkey located?

The wishbone in a turkey is the forked bone between the turkey's neck and breast. Its scientific name is the "furcula." This bone braces the bird's shoulders and helps connect muscles.
Although bones are often considered hard and rigid, a bird's wishbone is flexible. It works like a spring, opening and closing during flight. The wishbone on a bird is similar to a person's collarbone, or clavicle.
Some dinosaurs also had furcula bones. This group of dinosaurs, dromaeosaurs, were the carnivores commonly known as "raptors." In these animals, the furcula most likely helped to brace the shoulder while holding food.
