How do you turn off your iPod?

Turning off an iPod can be accomplished in three steps. An iPod can be turned off to save battery power or to restart the device.

  1. Locate the sleep/wake button

    The button on the top of your iPod is the sleep/wake button. It is used to put your device into sleep mode, turn it off and restart it.

  2. Hold down sleep/wake button

    Press the sleep/wake button down firmly and hold until the message "slide to power off" appears on the iPod's screen.

  3. Swipe to power off

    Using your finger, swipe the "slide to power off" slider to the right until the screen dims and the iPod is turned off.
