How are TV news scripts written?

First get any images or video that will be used in the story, and then write an introductory sentence, the main body of the story and an outcue. Everyday, simple language should be used and sentences should be short.

1. Video
The first step is to prepare and shoot any video or images that are going to be used in the story. Note the sections that will be used and keep those in mind when writing the script.
2. Opening sentence
Write the opening sentence. It should get straight to the point by telling the viewer exactly what the story is about. Do not hold back key information - the most important information should be given in the opening sentence.
3. Main body
Now write the main body of the story. Make sure to answer the questions: who, what, why, when, where and how. Think about the video or images that are going to be used and ensure the script matches it. What the viewer sees and hears should match. Finally make sure the language is concise by using crisp sentences and everyday words.
4. Outcue
Now write the outcue. For a news reader, this will be a concluding sentence. For a news reporter, it is likely to be their name and where they are reporting from.
