How do you twist hair?

To twist the hair, wash and condition the hair, allow it to dry most of the way, separate out uniform strands, twist all the way to the ends, and release each twist gradually. Apply product to all the hair and to each individual strand.

1. Prepare the hair

   Wash and condition the hair as usual. Use an absorbent towel to dry the hair. Apply a hair oil or hair gloss to make hair shiny, and allow it to dry about 90 percent of the way.

2. Separate out a section

   Use a rat tail comb to separate out a uniform section of hair. Ensure the section is as square as possible. Comb the strand, and apply hair gel to the entire length.

3. Start the twist

   Divide the section down the middle. Cross one section over the other section to begin the twist.

4. Continue twisting

   Continue crossing one section over the other all the way down the strand. Continue crossing in the same direction, and maintain even tension while twisting.

5. Finish the twist

   Twist strand over strand until you reach the very end of the hair. Apply a small dab of hair oil to your thumb and forefinger, and gently rub it into the end. Hold the twist between the two fingers, and then gradually release the pressure. Allow the twist to loosen at its own rate.

6. Twist the rest of the hair

   Select the direction of each twist, either choosing to alternate directions for more fullness or to maintain the same direction for continuity. Make sure the strands are the same size to ensure uniform twists.
