What type of bags should trash be placed in?

As of March 2015, Glad Drawstring Stronger and Hefty the Gripper were the top two trash bags as tested by Consumer Reports. These brands cost 14 to 16 cents per bag on average.

Consumer Reports tested trash bags on their ability to hold weight without breaking. Both of the top-scoring bags held approximately 50 pounds before the bags broke. Additionally, because the Glad Drawstring Stronger is not as thick as other bags, it uses less plastic, while the Hefty Gripper features a drawstring top.

The lowest-rated bag was by Member's Mark, which was able to hold only 35 pounds before breaking.
