The best diet for a Sulcata Tortoise includes a variety of grasses and leaves. This diet is most similar to their natural diet in the wild and includes lawn grasses, mulberry leaves, flowers, grape leaves and hibiscus leave.

Sulcata tortoises are voracious eaters and always take advantage of a meal opportunity. Baby Sulcata tortoises enjoy spring mixes with kale, collard greens, dark lettuces and turnip greens. Commercial tortoise food is also available as a supplement to their diet. Tortoises must eat from a flat surface, such as a tray or a flat rock. They should not be fed from dirt or gravel surfaces.
