The Incas had a highly organized government that was both decentralized and centralized. For the time period, it was a very modern form of government.
The Inca government had an emperor who lived in the capital along with a ruling class. There were four parts to the empire, and each part had additional provinces. The provinces had officials who answered to the emperor. The government was highly socialist. Peasants worked for the government, and the government made sure that had everything they needed to live, because no money existed. When a commoner got sick or got too old to work, the government provided for them.
