What type of government does England have?

The government of England, part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is a constitutional monarchy. The head of government of the United Kingdom is the Prime Minister. The head of state is the reigning monarch.

Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. The United Kingdom also includes Northern Ireland. The Prime Minister is the leader of the party with a majority of the House of Commons in Parliament or the leader of a coalition of parties if no majority exists. Technically, the Prime Minister serves at the pleasure of the monarch. Practically speaking, the monarch always designates the individual who leads the majority party or majority coalition.
