The Jeep models used in the past by the United States Postal Service include the DJ3-A, the DJ5 and the DJ6. The USPS phased out the use of Jeeps in the 1990s and replaced them with the Grumman Long Life Vehicle.
As of 2015, the United States Postal Service has announced its intention to obtain new trucks to replace its current fleet of delivery vehicles, which is estimated to cost over $6 billion. The obsolete Grumman LLV has not been produced since 1994. The USPS suffered an estimated $450 million in 2013 maintenance costs since parts for the LLV are no longer readily available.
